The Unaccompanied and Separated Children Task Force (UASC TF) of the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (the Alliance) is pleased to announce the test pilot of the UASC TF Training Package 5-7 December 2018 at the John Knox Center in Geneva, Switzerland. The package includes the Field Handbook and the Toolkit on Unaccompanied and Separated Children.
The Handbook and Toolkit complement the existing Guiding Principles with up-to-date operational guidance for child protection staff and all other actors to ensure that responses are appropriate to and in the best interests of the particular unaccompanied and separated children. The publications emphasize the importance of working with affected communities, including children themselves, and building on their strengths and resilience. Both the field handbook and the toolkit are field-oriented, providing tips, checklists, tools, templates, examples of best practice and guidance to further references. The package is currently available in English; additional translations are expected to be completed early in 2019.
Individuals interested in attending the pilot testing should email Giulia Tshilumba (firstname.lastname@example.org) and copy (cc:) Nadia Akmoun (email@example.com) by 23 Nov 2018. Only candidates who can cover their costs and obtain a visa for Switzerland in this short timeframe should apply. The organisers will cover the cost of the trainer and training venue, plus lunch and coffee break.
