Following a multi-country study on the drivers of violence against children, the UNICEF Office of Research - Innocenti and the University of Edinburgh have released a report entitled "Research that Drives Change: Conceptualizing and Conducting Nationally Led Violence Prevention Research." The study was led by national research teams comprised of government officials, practitioners, and academic researchers in Italy, Vietnam, Peru, and Zimbabwe in order to better understand the complex underlying causes of violence against children.

In conjunction with the study's release, the journal Vulnerable Children and Youth Studies has released an open access, peer-reviewed special edited issue entitled "The Multi-Country Study on the Drivers of Violence Affecting Children: Giving Complexity Clarity." The edition features articles on building a global movement for violence prevention and examining children's perspectives of violence.
