UNICEF Releases New Podcasts That Tell Us Why Research Matters

11 Dec 2018
UNICEF Innocenti

UNICEF Innocenti has produced two podcasts that take a deeper look at research on the themes of migration and gender-based violence and their impacts on children.

In The Role of Research on Migration: Insights on Migrants’ Experiences, migration expert Bina D’Costa tells about her latest research - from on the ground in Cox's Bazar to interviewing children in Somaliland - and why the 2018 Global Compact for Migration is so important for children. Also discussed are UNICEF Innocenti’s latest research projects and important lessons learned, as well as upcoming research for children on issues related to migration, refugees and displacement.

#HEARMETOO: UNICEF Research on Gender-Based Violence for #16Days of Activism features Amber Peterman and Tia Palermo from the Transfer Project. They discuss their recent research linking poverty and gender-based violence and unpack evidence of how social protection has the potential to mitigate gender-based violence. 2018's unique global advocacy theme this year - #HearMeToo - brings to the forefront women raising their voices and awareness with stories on survival and resilience to work towards mitigating violence against girls and women everywhere.
