Guidance note: Protection of children during infectious disease outbreaks
The Alliance’s Child Protection Minimum Standards Working Group, co-led by Terre des hommes and Save the Children, has developed a new guidance note and briefing paper, for child protection practitioners on how to ensure that children’s protection needs are considered in preparation for, and in response to, infectious disease outbreaks, under the leadership of Plan International Germany. These resources were developed in response to an identified gap in available guidance for child protection responses during public health emergencies.
Highlights from the Guidance Note
Structure of the Guidance Note
The Guidance Note is structured around key questions such as why are children particularly vulnerable to infectious disease outbreaks and what child protection actions are recommended in such settings, beyond what is included in the CPMS. This short video highlights these questions.
