Led by UNICEF, the Interagency Working Group on Unaccompanied and Separated Children has finalised the Field Handbook on Unaccompanied and Separated Children and the accompanying Toolkit on UASC. The handbook and toolkit are the culmination of six years of collaboration to identify, define and illustrate best practice in working with unaccompanied and separated children. The Handbook covers legal frameworks and agency mandates, undersanding the issue, prevention of separation, coordination, assessment, programme development, case management, all aspects of the FTR process and alternative care. The Handbook and Toolkit will be posted on line and translated in to French, Spanish and Arabic. During 2017, the IAWG plans to focus on mapping and improving capacity building relating to working with UASC.
