Project Brief | Humanitarian Diplomacy for Child Protection Outcomes

Child protection actors are working in increasingly complex humanitarian environments, where shrinking humanitarian space, funding constraints, and rising protection risks require new approaches alongside service delivery. Strengthening child protection also means shaping the conditions that enable humanitarian action to reach children safely and effectively.

Led by Plan International on behalf of the Alliance, this global initiative explores how child protection actors can engage more strategically in humanitarian diplomacy, advocacy, and negotiation to improve outcomes for children. The initiative will produce practical, field-informed resources, including a background paper, pilot approaches in two conflict-affected contexts, a Learning & Development package, and online learning clinics to strengthen capacity across the sector.

By strengthening humanitarian diplomacy in child protection, the initiative aims to improve humanitarian access, reinforce humanitarian principles, influence policies affecting children, and better equip child protection actors to create lasting change for children affected by crisis and conflict.
