ALAMEEN is implementing projects through regional offices in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan, Iraq, Palestine, and Somalia.

Our work sectors are Health, Education and protection, Education, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Protection, Shelter &Non-food items, Wash and Sanitation.

ALAMEEN also manages development projects, advocates to empower civil societies and local governance

Job Description

ALAMEEN is seeking an Education & Protection Coordinator who will work closely with the Program Manager and other support departments, direct supervision of senior staff working in the Field Protection Program and coordinate closely with the Technical Coordinator. S/HE will track progress, contribute to the design and implementation plans of activities, contribute to a lesson learned and recommendations for program improvement, provide technical support as needed.

The Education & Protection Coordinator will be responsible for the vision, strategy, design, monitoring, and quality delivery of the Protection and Education program.

Responsibilities:

Technical Support and Program Quality:

  • Provide technical supervision of, and technical support to Education and Protection programming activities.
  • Ensure that education and child protection programs utilize standardized protocols, policies, and guidelines, as recommended by the Ministries of Education, Safety, Civil/social protection, etc.
  • Lead all research and learning activities in relation to Education and Protection.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up and decision-making on data relevant to AL-AMEEN Education and Protection programs.
  • Ensure all stakeholders are provided with updates on Education and Protection, programs in Syria, including HQ, the regional team, partners, donors, etc.
  • Contribute to designing and implementing monitoring activities (program, operational and financial) to achieve the set project’s objectives; and ensure regular follow-up on monitoring data relevant to Al-AMEEN Education and Protection programs to feed into on-going review of project cycle and decision-making for program.
  • Ensure that all internal and external reporting requirements are met, that reports are of a high quality and are submitted on time.
  • Evaluate the progress of activities, define performance indicators, structure operational data collection in coordination with the Monitoring and Evaluation Department, and implement quality assurance protocols
  • Monitor the project risk level and success of risk mitigation plans and report to the Program Manager to identify areas of concern in advance and mitigate them effectively.
  • Ensure field-based protection staff understands and adheres to GBV best-practice principles, including strict adherence to confidentiality.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Project management

  • Lead the Education and protection team and worked with the Education and protection Program Officer to supervise Education and protection program implementation.
  • Oversee job description reviews, recruitment, orientation, and performance reviews for the education and protection team.
  • Develop Education and protection activity work plans based on the program's annual work plan and implement activities promptly
  • Coordinate with the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager in compiling monthly education and protection reports, quarterly analysis trends, and how to improve the quality of reporting
  • Coordinate with the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager to review Education and protection reporting indicators and reporting tools
  • Coordinate with the Logistics Manager to improve supply chain management and accountability for Education and protection supplies
  • In consultation with technical leads, contribute to the development of Education and protection project proposals and project budgets

EMERGENCY RESPONSE SUPPORT

  • When needed, identify areas with greatest impact, highest needs
  • Conduct stakeholder analysis: continually review existing actor mapping with a view to identifying key actors and establishing partnerships with focused on the delivery of protection services
  • Design and conduct multi-sector needs assessments.

CAPACITY BUILDING AND MENTORSHIP

  • Develop and deliver technical training for field staff, volunteers .
  • Respond to specific Education and protection -related requests and inquiries from country programs by undertaking relevant research and identifying appropriate technical expertise from within or external the organization.
  • In coordination with other Education and protection staff and relevant technical staff, develop crucial documents in the domains of standards and approaches, core competencies, and learning. These will be in the form of technical briefs, technical guidelines, case studies, and cape statements to promote high-quality programming and strategic partnerships.

REPRESENTATION AND PARTNERSHIPS

  • Represent ALAMEEN in the international emergency and development community through actively participating in and contributing to essential Education and protection -related technical and programmatic coalitions and global networks.
  • Participate in relevant coordination forums.
  • Represent ALAMEEN Education and protection programming in donor meetings.
  • Keep abreast and contribute to global discussions of education and protection issues and donor Education and protection strategies.
  • Organize and present Education and protection program information and lessons learned to donors, partners, and technical forums at country, regional and international levels working with respective departments.
  • Participate in networking on technical issues with other Education and protection and related NGOs with a view to identifying and facilitating partnership opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of technical guidance notes, minimum standards, case studies, and other documentation based on collective priorities identified.

Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting:

  • Delivers timely quality reporting on project activities, including findings regarding the impact on individuals and communities.
  • Takes part in projects meetings called by donors and any relevant stakeholders, in close coordination and under the supervision of the Head of Mission

Ability to:

  • Ability to work in a stressful setting and adapt quickly to changing environments

  • Ability to mentoring and training; experience in supervising staff desirable
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and work under pressure with deadlines.
  • Ability to travel.

Qualifications

  • Masters level qualification in Social Sciences, Education, or related subject, A minimum of 3-5 years professional experience in leading/managing Education and child Protection projects in humanitarian contexts
  • Excellent knowledge of the humanitarian and development sectors, and experience with and knowledge of humanitarian standards.
  • Proven experience in managing and/or technically supporting education, case management, and psychosocial support activities for children.
  • Excellent knowledge of program life cycles.
  • Comfortable in planning and delivering multiple activities, work plans, and tasks under pressure to strict deadlines and high levels of precision.
  • Ability to work with and lead a team and work independently, with minimal supervision and under pressure, while taking and facilitating team and programmatic decisions.
  • Proven skills in managing others, leading teams, reporting, analyzing, and problem-solving.
  • Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding work-related information and data.
  • A critical mind, and ability to ask questions and analyze situations.
  • Excellent management capacities and team leadership spirit
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to solve problems in the field with staff, local committees, and beneficiaries.
  • Ability to manage remote teams.
  • Experience in programming Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Desirable, PMP Certified.

Languages:

  • Arabic and English are mandatory (oral and written)
