This Learning Series responds to key challenges and gaps in knowledge and capacity as identified by country teams through a global capacity strengthening collaboration between UNHCR and Plan International. The module content has developed based on piloting throughout 2021-2023.

Modules can be taken in any order, but it is recommended to start with the Module 1 on “the adolescent girl-responsive approach to child marriage programming” in order to ensure a strong foundational knowledge of the topic and the guiding theory behind the other technical modules.

The modules are free to enrol, and available in English or French hosted on both Kaya and Workday.

You can access the full three-part course on workday here in English or French. See below for the links to the modules on Kaya.

Module 1: The adolescent girl-responsive approach to child marriage programming

Address child marriage by centring programming on the needs and realities of adolescent girls. It will inform you about how to unpack the nuances and complexity of child marriage in your context, to deliver more impactful programming centred on adolescent girls in line with humanitarian standards.

Module 2: Supporting married girls and unmarried girls at risk of child marriage in case management

This learning module is primarily aimed at child protection and gender-based violence caseworkers and supervisors or coordinators. This module will improve your skills and knowledge to deliver case management services to married and unmarried girls affected by the practice of child marriage.

Module 3: Co-designing child marriage prevention strategies with girls and their community

Learn about participatory co-design methods to build community-led and girl-driven child marriage prevention strategies with lasting impact. Gives examples of child marriage prevention strategies to help you design and deliver tailored humanitarian prevention programming.

These modules have been developed for self-guided learning, but they can also be used as part of a group study guided by a technical facilitator. If you are interested to set up a study group, please contact us for additional support.
