Philippines: Project Coordinator - Sunbright
The post is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the project, SUNBRIGHT or Supporting Nanay in Exclusive Breastfeeding and Infant/Young Child Feeding for Growing Healthy Tsikiting. The project's goal is to contribute to the reduction and prevention of malnutrition through the promotion of exclusive breastfeeding and appropriate complementary feeding. The PC will facilitate in determining the causal factors leading to undernutrition among infants and young children and pregnant and lactating women (PLW) including teenage mothers in Barangay Alabang in Muntinlupa City and in other areas that the project may later on cover. He or she will accelerate the promotion of the importance of optimal infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices through capacity-building of local health service providers and use of socio-behavioral change communication (SBCC) materials. The PC will make it possible for the project to increase the coverage of infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices through the formation or strengthening of community IYCF support groups among PLW, their partners, and community leaders. Lastly, the PC will assist in capacitating the local government units (city and barangay) on specific nutrition concepts, programs, and practices that would effectively prevent and reduce undernutrition through local policies and sustained logistical support.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- University degree on Health, Nutrition or Social Sciences
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in program management or in implementing programs in development or humanitarian contexts
- Technical knowledge and working experience on maternal, neonatal and child health and nutrition.
- Familiarity with First 1,000 Days Law
- Familiarity with children's rights and children's issues
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to keep track of the quality and status of own or others' work
- Good interpersonal and communications skills
- Good writing skills; able to write reports and briefing papers
- Proven ability in facilitating meetings, workshops, and other group processes
- Highly organized, with good attention to detail and developed ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines and organize work
- Proven experience of using MS office application (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) and desk-top publishing software
- Strong customer servicing skills
- Experience in problem solving
- Willingness to travel frequently
