Home-based: Global Integrity Advisor
Your Challenge:
Within War Child we have an integrity framework that protects and supports the organization, its employees and project participants, that is in line with the best practices in the field and includes moral learning process and decent practice of preventative and repressive compliance.
As Global Integrity Advisor you play a key role in implementing and rolling out the War Child Alliance Safeguarding & Integrity policies and procedures, and you ensure the correct use of the protocol for handling (suspected) violations. As Global Integrity Advisor you have a championing, initiating and supervisory role with regard to integrity. Together with our specialized experts, such as persons of trust, investigator or risk analyst you ensure that the integrity framework runs effectively and advise and support our senior management in integrity issues. Further, you work together with different colleagues forming part of the Complaints Committee (e.g. the Legal Advisor or auditor, Global CS Committee), with Human Resources to develop training and on issues concerning labor law, etc.
Our Global Integrity Advisor is part of a newly formed Integrity and Safeguarding team which is part of the People & Culture department and in this role you work closely with Safeguarding Coordinators based in the WCA country offices, the Global Safeguarding Advisors, the Global Internal Auditor/Anti-Fraud and Corruption advisors and will collaborate with key stakeholders across the organisation. The position can be based on any of the locations where War Child has an office, the interested candidate must have the right to work in this country.
Your Responsibilities:
- Developing, rolling-out, implementing, revising, improving and monitoring effectiveness and compliance with the Safeguarding & Integrity policies, the Speak Up! Procedure and related policies, procedures and guidelines that aligns with industry best practices, legal requirements, and War Child Alliance's policies and values.
- Providing Ethics / Safeguarding & Integrity advice, support, guidance, mentoring and coaching.
- Developing and/or facilitating training, learning (materials) and awareness materials/activities to country leadership, staff, focal points and partners.
- Leading independent investigations into allegations of breaches of the Safeguarding & Integrity policies in accordance with agreed WCA procedures.
- Providing oversight and capacity development to staff conducting Safeguarding & Integrity policies investigations and train relevant staff to strengthen investigation skills.
- Generating reports and analysis of cases dealt with.
- Communicating confidentially, safely, empathetically, sensitively and effectively with complainants/reporters, witnesses, subject of concerns and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality and ensuring impartiality throughout the investigation process.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the Safeguarding & Integrity policies and related policies/procedures/guidelines, identify potential risks and areas of improvement, and proposing corrective measures.
- Learning from trend analysis and patterns of cases/incidents dealt with and informing programme / organisational improvements.
- Collaborating with external partners, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability.
- Representing War Child Alliance in meetings, conferences, and other relevant forums related to integrity and compliance matters.
- Being responsible for and contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children, and adults and compliant to Safeguarding & Integrity policies
- Working with other members of the Safeguarding and Integrity Team to implement the Integrity framework.
Your Profile:
- Minimum of 5 years of practical experience working with adults in international development and humanitarian settings
- Demonstrable a minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and implementing ethical policy and procedures for the delivery of high-quality standards
- Qualification in a specialist technical or professional field relevant to role (e.g. Education, Law, Social Work, Child Protection, Child Rights, Psychology)
- Knowledge, experienced and skilled in designing and facilitating integrity and ethics learning in different cultural and organisational contexts.
- Experienced, knowledgeable, trained and skilled in conducting investigations into breaches of Safeguarding & Integrity policies Code of Conduct misconduct.
- Able to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and influence using a variety of different styles, considering cultural differences.
- Able to work with a high degree of confidentiality, and to manage conflict and handle sensitive issues with an empathetic results-driven approach.
- Demonstrable experience in gender, inclusion and conflict-sensitive programming.
- Excellent skills in report-writing and documentation.
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of how to improve policy and practice.
- Strong co-ordination and proactive leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and support staff.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate and form effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating patience, tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to culturally diverse environments.
- Able and willing to travel globally, including to hardship environments and at short notice.
- Strong working knowledge of English (Dutch, French and/or Spanish are an added benefit)
- Available to work fulltime
- You have the right to work in one of the countries where War Child has an office. We do not offer visa sponsorship or relocation assistance.
Our Offer:
- The following offer is based on a Dutch/UK employment contract. Actual conditions and benefits will depend on the hiring WCA office
Dutch Contract:
- Salary range from €3,898 to €4,847 gross per month, based on 40 hours week (the exact step determined by the years of your relevant working experience).
- 28 vacation days on full time basis (consisting of 26 vacation days plus 2 additional fixed free days, based on 40 hours work week)
- Flexible working policy
- A pension scheme fully paid by War Child.
- Monthly mobile phone contribution of €25.
- Contribution to travel costs and working from home costs.
UK Contract:
- Salary range from £47.500 to £57.900 gross annum, based on 37 hours week (the salary determined by the years of your relevant working experience).

- 28 vacation days on full time basis
- Pension contribution from War Child.
