
Primary Prevention for CPHA Online Training
What will you learn?
The Primary Prevention Framework for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action was revised by the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action in 2025. The L&D Working Group of the Alliance would like to offer you a free, online learning opportunity to further explore the framework to strengthen overall understanding of primary prevention in child protection in humanitarian action. The course will provide an introduction to prevention programming, and will allow you to reflect on how the Primary Prevention Framework for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action is relevant to your context.
What will you achieve?
By the end of the online course you will be able to:
- Define prevention in child protection in humanitarian action.
- Discuss the nine guiding principles for CPHA prevention programming.
- Explain the five steps of prevention programming and give examples of how these may be applicable in own context.
- Describe opportunities and challenges associated with prevention programming in child protection in humanitarian action.
Learning on this Course:
The course is free and comprises 2 live sessions run in English which are compulsory to attend to be entitled to a certificate.

The sessions will be delivered remotely via Zoom and will comprise presentations, group works and individual activities. The sessions will not be recorded.
Who is this course for?
Child protection in humanitarian action and child protection in development settings professionals from Governments, UN agencies, International Non-Governmental Organisations, Local Non-Governmental Organisations, Civil Society Organisations etc., are invited to express their interest for this course.
