Home-based (2-3 hour time difference of GMT): Director of Global Advocacy
(Location flexible within a 2-3 hour time difference of GMT)
We believe children belong in families. And we believe that if society were truly accountable to children, we would not be incarcerating them in orphanages.
Orphanages harm children. Over 100 years of evidence shows that the majority of those who experience life inside an institution suffer violence, abuse and neglect. Denied the chance to grow up in a family, they’re more likely to become homeless later in life, to have run-ins with the law, and to experience mental and physical health issues. And yet for many children this is still their reality.
You can help change this.
Our Global Advocacy is central to our mission, creating the conditions for change across all countries and regions in which we operate, securing high-level political will, disseminating evidence and know-how, strengthening civil society and mobilising resources for child-protection reform.
As Director of Global Advocacy, you will spearhead the development and delivery of our advocacy strategy, to deliver real impact. You will lead to a diverse team covering a portfolio of activities that are influencing the European Union, United Nations, Commonwealth, African Union and the United Kingdom, among others. You will also be a vital member of the 5-person Senior Management Team, with the organisation-wide responsibilities that entails.
You will be versatile and dynamic, with a true passion for children’s rights. You will be a senior leader with extensive knowledge and experience in international advocacy and campaigning at the highest levels. A proven track record of influencing multilateral organisations, governments, human rights bodies and other NGOs is required, and you will be a results-driven individual who can demonstrate previous evidence of catalysing change.
You will join a brave, can-do organisation and will be at the centre of work that genuinely makes a difference in the lives of children. You will be encouraged to think and act big, and you will be mandated and supported to make things happen. You will work with dedicated, passionate champions who take bold steps to inspire change.
If you believe every child belongs in a family then join us, as we consign orphanages to history.
