Spain: Protection Expert
AeA is looking for an expert in Protection to deepen its role and expertise in the sector, considering that protection (in general) is one of the focus of AeA's work in development, and a sector where the organization has a lot of experience
As part of the Emergency Unit, the Protection expert will provide technical expertise and leadership at two different levels: at HQ, he/she will ensure the organization positioning in the sector; at Country Programs level he/she will support improving projects/activities and programs quality, providing training, formulation support, monitoring and evaluation of proposed interventions related to the sector (or with component of Protection). The Protection expert will guarantee that learning and training programs are implemented considering high didactic standard in order to develop capacities, skills and knowledge of participants in line with the standards and requirements of major humanitarian donors. The Protection Expert will also ensure that all Humanitarian interventions of AeA respect and integrate the 4 cross-cutting Protection principles.
Responsibilities:
- To develop an internal Protection strategy by gathering information and experience raised in AeA;
- To develop an intervention model in Protection for the organization, considering ALL Protection sub-sectors;
- To prepare/update capacity statement on AeA projects in Protection and to develop advocacy plans for the sector;
- To actively participate and support the internal Forced Mobility working group / direct support to the regional LAC Forced Mobility team;
- To support, at technical level, the National Programs in the preparation/submission of project proposals (for different donors) and also in the different stages of actins monitoring;
- To develop necessary tools, guidelines and protocols, and harmonizes them across all protection programs;
- To coordinate the revision of existing materials and/or the development of new ones on Protection;
- To design, adjust or revise simple monitoring and evaluation tools;
- To participate in forums and/or working groups on Protection;
- To advise and accompany the AeA National Offices in EiE forums and/or working groups at National Level;
- To develop Protection training modules and programs that provide a general framework and relevant practical tools to support project implementation;
- To support the National Programs in the establishment of an active referral system for Case Management and in the selection and supervision of partners responsible for providing protection services in accordance with the standards and guidelines of the various international donors;
- Where appropriate/requested, to facilitate training and/or other support to local partners to enhance their efforts in understanding institutional donor requirements and reporting skills related to Protection;
- To support high quality reports;
- To realize other tasks according to needs and requirements of the Emergency Unit Coordinator and/or Sectorial Responsible.
Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience:
- Degree in International Law, Political Science, International Relations, Human Rights, Social Studies or a related field;
- Studies in Development Cooperation and/or Humanitarian Action highly desired;
- Minimum Experience of 5 years working in humanitarian contexts;
- Previous work experience in protection (e.g. child protection, anti-trafficking), including providing direct assistance to vulnerable groups;
- Previous experience in Project Proposal Writing for different international donors such as ECHO, BHA, AECID, or others institutional donors;
- Professional experience in humanitarian and development fields related to migration, refugees and IDPs, with increasing levels of responsibility and supervision (highly desirable);
- Experience in conducting protection needs & risk assessments and response plans;
- Knowledge of Sphere standards and other humanitarian programming standards;
- Strong negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills;
- Ability to work for multifaceted programs and to prioritize multiple tasks;
- Experience in developing partnerships and working with local partners;
- Time management skills.

- French: B2 Intermediate/advanced
Geographical Mobility:
- Based in Madrid, hybrid format (60% - 40%) with flexibility to travel to AeA National Offices for short missions (max. 30 days).

- Windows (Advanced)
- Knowledge of MEAL tools
- Knowledge of AeA operation countries and contexts would be an added value.

Offer Conditions:
- Incorporation: Immediate
- Duration of contract: Undefined with a 6-month probation period
- Workday: Hybrid format, 40 hours per week, with intensive work during the summer.

- Salary in accordance with Ayuda en Acción's remuneration policy.
