Do you believe that every child is a gift from God and are you eager to use your expertise to improve the lives of children in need? We are recruiting an ambitious Coordinator Programs & Partners in Disaster Response (Zwolle, the Netherlands, 28-36 hours per week).
Your Job:
As Coordinator of Programs & Partners, you will be responsible for managing disaster response programs and partners in two countries. The key focus will be your role in leading the Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA) consortium in South Sudan, which Help a Child manages. Secondly you will also manage a portfolio of projects in one other country, such as Burundi or Malawi.
For the lead position of the DRA you work closely together with the lead team in South Sudan, with the DRA member organisations, and with local partner organisations. Together you’ll manage a budget exceeding 21 million euro (2024-2026) helping people in South Sudan suffering from hunger, lack of clean drinking water, and living in unsafe situations with their families Lead of the South Sudan Joint Response. You will represent Help a Child within the Dutch Relief Alliance in the Netherlands. Additionally, you will oversee all reporting to the DRA, ensuring compliance with financial, programmatic, and monitoring & evaluation requirements.
Besides leading the South Sudan DRA consortium, you will also be appointed to coordinate all projects and programs in one other Help a Child country. You’ll be in close contact with the program team in the respective country and monitor progress of all projects and partners on a regular basis.
As Coordinator Programs & Partners you are part of the Dutch department responsible for Help a Child’s projects and partners. You report directly to the Manager Programs & Partners.
Your Profile

- Hold a master’s degree in a relevant field, such as humanitarian aid, development, or international relations.
- Have at least five years of experience and expertise in managing large-scale, strategically important project and in humanitarian work, preferably in South Sudan.
- Are a passionate and pro-active person who is deeply motivated to make a difference for children in need.
- Have experience in Help a Child’s focus areas: Child Protection, Emergency Education, and Food Security & Livelihood.
- Demonstrate strong networking skills and are sensitive for social and political dynamics within consortia.
- Are a team player who can effectively motivate and coordinate teams.
- Are open to frequent travel to South Sudan and other disaster-affected countries (about two or three trips per year).
Your Skills and Expertise:
- Understanding of the Dutch Relief Alliance operations.
- Experience with large-scale Disaster Response projects and institutional donors such as the EU, UN, or government agencies.
- Proven ability to coordinate large consortia.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (knowledge of Dutch or French is a plus).
- Cultural sensitivity and high standards of integrity.
