Nigeria: PSS/CFS Facilitator - Dikwa (Nationals Only)
JOB PURPOSE:
CB PSS Adolescent Facilitators are recruited to support the community's INTERSOS Child Protection response. They handle the daily CB PSS activities and CFS Management in the community, referring possible cases of concern to the FTR Focal Points and the Case Workers for the provision of Family Tracing and Reunification and Psychosocial Support Services respectively. The CB CFS/PSS Facilitator will work under the overall supervision of the Protection Manager, the direct supervision of the Protection Officer, and in close collaboration with the rest of the project team. The CB CFS/PSS Facilitators will be selected and will act as community watchdogs to enhance vulnerable children's protection level. The CFS/ PSS Facilitator will handle planning, organizing, and implementing activities for children at Child-Friendly Spaces (CFS). S/He will create a safe and friendly environment where children can play, learn socialize and improve their well-being.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the proper and safe filing and archiving of the CFS client files and activity reports files to maintain data confidentiality as per INTERSOS and international standards.
- Carry out all tasks respecting key protection principles, including but not limited to:
- Do not harm.
- Non-discrimination.
- Confidentiality.
- Accountability and,
- Need-to-know principles.
OTHER PSS & CFS ACTIVITIES:
- Create a weekly schedule of PSS recreational activities that will be conducted at the CFS.
- Make use of a variety of structured games, well-being, and learning activities responding to the needs of children of different ages, genders, and abilities
- Ensure a safe, friendly, and joyful atmosphere for the children in the CFS.
- Make children feel comfortable, safe, and respected.
- Promote equal participation in all activities and fairness among children.
- Be a positive role model and demonstrate no-conflict-solving behaviours.
- Record in the daily attendance sheet all children attending the CFS.
- Monitor closely the children’s behaviour and report any sign of distress to the Social /Case Workers
- Ensure that the CFS is clean and organized and store all items safely at the end of the day.
- Responsible for monitoring the progress of community volunteers in their role in assisting to manage the CFS and age-appropriate activities.
- Support the protection officer with the compilation of all the child protection activities report at the CFS.
- Any other duties required by the Protection Officer, Protection Manager & Protection Coordinator.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree in a related field e.g. Social Work, Psychology or equivalent is an asset
- 1 year of relevant work experience in child protection as a CFS facilitator
- Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
- Local language essential
- Respect and non-discriminatory attitude, empathy
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Reporting skills
- Capacity to work under pressure
- Commitment to INTERSOS principles
- Willing to work extra hours and available at the weekend for emergency cases.
- Fluency in English, Kanuri, and Hausa.
