Takaful Al Sham (TAS) has been responding to the Syrian crisis since 2012 and to the Refugee Response in Turkiye since 2013. Job Summary:

Implement focused psychosocial support activities with children and adults in protection centers and mobile teams as well as provide protection services and activities to the community to ensure that children and caregivers have access to services in a safe environment, and prioritize their psychosocial well-being.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and presenting PSS sessions and preparing PSS materials and visual aids appropriate to the target age.
  • Conducting recreational activities with adolescents and adults such as sports activities, arts and crafts, drama, etc.
  • Facilitate the participation of all segments of the target community in planned activities to ensure the involvement of the most vulnerable groups.
  • Monitor the progress of beneficiaries during psychosocial support activities and identify people with unusual changes in behavior or other signs of psychosocial distress for referral to a case specialist.
  • Ensure that good facilitation skills are used that make trainees feel comfortable and promote their participation and personal development.
  • Ensure that children are not exposed to any form of harm or stress during the activity and that they feel safe and respected.
  • Ensure that trainees participate in the focused program in a non-discriminatory and age- and gender-sensitive manner.
  • Follow up on trainees' well-being, attendance, and special needs.
  • Submit a report on the number of Trainees, achievements, required supplies, and new registration applications.
  • Ensure that centers provide a creative safe environment by monitoring psychosocial support sessions and highlighting existing gaps.
  • Refer children and families to the referral team when necessary.
  • Carry out all tasks that respect key protection principles including but not limited to: non-harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality and accountability.
  • Conduct focused group discussions and other participatory activities to engage community members in protection activities and better understand their needs and concerns.
  • Participate in meetings and training courses inside and outside the educational center upon request.
  • Any other additional tasks assigned to the supervisor.
  • Respect and apply all principles of protection from sexual exploitation and abuse and the child protection policy, and the obligation to report any incident of sexual exploitation or abuse or any breach of the protection policy.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree in education, psychology and child development or in a discipline closely related to the work required.
  • Basic understanding of child protection.
  • Good experience in providing psychosocial and recreational activities for children (playing, drawing, music, sports, drama, handicrafts, etc.).
  • Possess verbal and non-verbal communication skills, especially with children.
  • Worked in child protection programs with local or international organizations for at least one year.
  • Previously, he underwent basic child protection training (Minimum Child Protection Standards – Case Management).
  • Has an understanding of the social and cultural context of society.
  • It has the ability to manage data, organize files and archive.
  • Confidentiality, respect and non-taking discriminatory attitudes.
