The Opportunity:
Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Advisor, Child Protection in Centre - London, UK or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office worldwide.
Role Purpose:
This role is an exciting opportunity for a Humanitarian Child Protection professional to provide technical support to our child protection work with children in humanitarian responses with a core focus on external coordination and internal capacity building to support the integration of child protection with Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA). The post-holder will work closely with the Humanitarian Child Protection (HCP) Response Lead to define funding needs and support the development of partnerships and new business opportunities.
Specifically, the post holder will be accountable for (1) provision of child protection technical expertise to support country offices (CO) in the development and implementation of high-quality, integrated programming in humanitarian crises, including through deployment; (2) support the Humanitarian Child Protection (HCP) Response Lead with new business development to address strategic priorities and response-level funding gaps; (3) contribution to internal technical approaches and tools and inter-agency coordination, evidence generation and standard setting relating to child protection and CVA.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Essential:
- Significant experience in delivering high quality humanitarian programmes and providing technical support to child protection.
- Understanding of principles, practices and policy priorities related to child protection.
- Experience of capacity building and mentoring on child protection approaches.
- Knowledge of policy, research and evidence-based methodologies with regards to child protection, and other relevant child focused programming.
- Professional qualification in or closely related sphere, such as social work, international law, psychology etc.
- Ability to undertake significant and regular international travel up to 50% of time.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
- Commitment to building and supporting a diverse and inclusive technical team.
- Fluent spoken and written English
- French language skills
Desirable:
- Additional language, such as French, Spanish and/or Arabic.
We can offer circa £45,000 per annum (If based in UK) with an option of flexible working hours. If the role is based outside of the UK, National T&C (including pay) will apply.
This role can be based in London or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location.
