The CAAFAG Task Force is pleased to invite you to a webinar on protecting children recruited by armed groups and by criminal organisations on 28 January 2025 at 3:00 pm CET. Interpretation will be provided in French, Spanish and Arabic.

This webinar aims to explore the differences and similarities in child protection with regards to association with armed groups and with criminal organisations. We will examine the challenges faced by children who are associated or at risk of being associated with these actors, including needs for protection, social reintegration, and legal considerations. 
By bringing together experts, and practitioners, we seek to foster a collaborative environment that encourages the sharing of best practices and innovative solutions from both contexts. 

Objectives of the Webinar: 

  • Share information on the legal framework relevant for children associated with armed groups in context of armed conflict and for children associated with criminal organisations in context of armed violence.
  • Explore the differences and similarities in terms of child protection in both contexts.
  • Discuss opportunities and strategies to improve the protection these children in both contexts. 

The webinar will be facilitated by Katherine Cocco, Senior Child Protection officer at UNICEF.
