Syria: Outreach Worker

General Description of the Organization:

Ghiras Al-Nahda is a Nonprofit Non-governmental humanitarian organization working to empower people through fulfilling their basic needs and seeking to improve community stability and resilience.

Job Purpose:

This role sits within the field team in Idlib.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and implement awareness sessions through focus group discussions and community mobilization to prevent/mitigate CP&GBV in the community and respond appropriately to it.
  2. Provide regular oral and written reports regarding ongoing activities, data collected, and cases identified/monitored to the Team Leader.
  3. Holding focused discussion sessions with the beneficiaries in order to identify awareness topics according to the needs of the community.
  4. Providing comprehensive psychological and social counseling to survivors of trauma, violence, or any other risks, while providing full information on the map of community services in the region.
  5. Responsible for identifying cases of gender-based violence and child protection and referring them to specialized or non-specialized protection services, while providing direct support for high-priority cases.
  6. help reduce the stigma associated with health and social problems by promoting awareness.
  7. help improve health outcomes for individuals and communities by promoting preventive health care, providing health education, and connecting people with health care providers.
  8. Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with intended beneficiaries, community members, partner staff, and all other key actors.
  9. Assist in updating the services map on a monthly basis.
  10. Under the direction of the team leader, conduct participatory monitoring activities to collect feedback and opinions of beneficiaries on the quality and impact of the activities.
  11. He/she may be asked to perform additional tasks in the future as needed and according to the project structure and in proportion to experience.
  12. Demonstrate commitment to the Code of Conduct, PSEA, humanitarian principles, minimum standards for gender-based violence, and minimum standards for child protection.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Sciences or Education any related subject, or bachelor's or institute degree with at least one year of relevant work experience in protection programs.
  • Good experience in protection, gender-based violence, and child protection programs.
  • Skills and experience in facilitating awareness sessions for women, men, girls, and boys.
  • Good background dealing with children.
  • Teamwork skills and dealing with beneficiaries.
  • Thorough knowledge of the basics of child protection, GBV, and standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of minimum standards for child protection in humanitarian action.
  • Experience in community mobilization and conducting awareness activities.
  • Experience in reporting and data management experience.
  • Flexibility and tolerance of permanent work pressure, especially during emergencies.
  • Commitment to the Code of Conduct and Protection Policy*.*
