Join Us in Bogotá at the Global EVA Min Con – Events to spotlight humanitarian crises
The Alliance would like to highlight four critical events during the 1st Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in Bogotá, Colombia. These events contribute to ensuring a critical spotlight is shone on children affected by humanitarian crises as part of the Global EVAC agenda.
1. Satellite Event: Child-Led Event with Children from Displacement and Conflict Areas in Latin America and Caribbean – Open to All Colleagues!
Latin America and The Caribbean Region (LACR) are bringing girls and boys from the displacement, conflict and crises context in their region, to shape their own event and call to governments, donors, and CSOs regarding their agency and protection. This event aims to amplify the voices of children living in escalating conflict and crises, empowering them to define key messages, key asks, and the overall structure of the event. But more than anything to encourage governments to focus in child protection and participation in fragile and humanitarian contexts in fragile and humanitarian contexts.

2. Satellite Event: Showcasing Effective Solutions to End Violence against Children in Humanitarian Settings – Open to All Colleagues!
Join us for an in-depth discussion on solutions to prevent and respond to violence in humanitarian settings. This session will feature perspectives from children, civil society, and government representatives, addressing issues such as climate shocks and armed violence. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the conversation and contribute to meaningful solutions.

3. Side Event: Child Recruitment – Armed Groups and Criminal Organisations
This side event, organised by the Colombian Presidential Office on Human Rights and IHL in collaboration with UNODC, UNICEF, Save the Children, War Child, and The Colombian Family Welfare Institute, will address the recruitment, use, and utilisation of children and youth and its intensification in countries with armed conflicts and/ or organised crime. In this event, Representatives of States and International Organisations will share their experiences and approaches to facing this global challenge.

4. Conference Event: Parallel Session 4.3 – Violence in Crises
This session, organised by the Alliance in collaboration with UNICEF, is part of the main conference agenda. It aims to inspire commitments from Member States to ensure adequate investments in preventing and addressing violence against children in humanitarian settings. Join us for a powerful session involving children with lived experiences and high-level officials, followed by a call to action for global efforts to protect children in crises.
