Tdh:
Terre des hommes Lausanne (Tdh), Switzerland’s largest children’s rights organisation, is reorganising its organisational model in order to get closer to children and young people in vulnerable situations in the thirty or so countries in which it is active.
In Tdh’s new organisational model, the HQ takes on the role of a centre of expertise in order to act effectively in favour of the respect, protection and promotion of children’s rights and to ensure overall steering, strategy, policies, monitoring and compliance and informed leadership.
Context:
In the MENA region, Tdh responds to child protection issues in both emergency contexts and stable development settings. The child protection transversal sector provides expertise across Tdh’s programs in Migration, Access to Justice, and Health in the domains of MHPSS, Case Management, Child and Youth Participation and Empowerment, Safeguarding and Child Rights and Business through a community based and system strengthening approach. By addressing the unique challenges faced by children in these diverse contexts, Tdh ensures comprehensive and integrated support. This approach not only addresses immediate protection needs but also contributes to long-term resilience and well-being of children and their families.
Tdh's child protection expertise in the MENA region supports country offices in designing, contextualizing, and implementing locally led multistakeholder interventions that enhance family and child well-being. Tdh collaborates closely with communities to strengthen community-based approaches and enhance both community and child participation and empowerment. Additionally, Tdh is actively and strongly engaged in coordination systems, working with formal and informal actors to improve the quality and sustainability of child protection systems.
Responsibilities:
Within the scope of the Child Protection expertise:
- Monitors and reports on the evolution of contexts and needs in order to enable timely and appropriate orientations and decision-making (e.g. countries where Tdh is present, mode of intervention, strategic choices, etc.).
- Promotes and ensures that Country Offices have the ressources and the capapcities to apply the Child Protection global frameworks, standards, processes and tools for managing programmes and expertise,.
- Fundraising for Child Protection transversal and flagship interventions within the region.
- Directs and pilots the implementation of Tdh child protection flagship projects and provides transversal expertise to all programmes (CYM, A2J, Health) in accordance with the ambitions set out in the strategy, the theories of change and the frameworks defined by the organisation.
- Monitors, analyses and reports on child protection related indicators integrated within programmes and expertise for the region (with the objective of operational impact).
- Ensures that information is shared to support communication and advocacy actions.
- Support the country offices in all matters relating to the quality implementation of child protection interventions in the country.
- Encourages and coordinates inter-country exchanges to foster learning (e.g. sharing of assessments, good practice, etc.)

Profile:
Education:
- Professional university degree in a relevant field is mandatory.
Experience & Competencies:
- Significant experience in the field of child protection (10 years).
- Significant experience in the same regional role (3 years)
- Expertise in advocacy techniques and strategies
- Proven experience in organising training, workshops, conferences.
- Significant experience in developing project proposals.
- Previous experience in managing regional projects and consortia.
Languages:
- Excellent written and spoken English. Arabic an asset.
IT:
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Conditions:
- Swiss contract
- Gross monthly salary between CHF 5’500.- and CHF 6’000.- depending on experience - x13,36 months
- Insurances: sickness, accident, repatriation
- Annual leaves: 25 days/year
- Flights to duty station and back
