Jordan: Project Assistant (Protection)
Responsibilities:
1. Support the implementation of the cash for protection intervention under IOM’s Syrian refugee response project:
- Complete daily tasks related to processing of referrals for cash for protection, assistance calculation and creation and maintenance of beneficiaries’ master lists and documents.
- Prepare and process cash paperwork, including account creation, account recharge, monitoring of withdrawals, refunds and cash reconciliation procedure.
- Support the organization of field exercises for ATM card collection & distribution and monitoring visits, preparation and archiving of documents for ATM card pick-up and distribution, liaison with IOM Fleet to organize the delivery of ATM cards to cash beneficiaries.
- Participate in training sessions on IOM’s cash for protection assistance to partner NGOs to strengthen coordination and referral pathways.
- Support the accurate and timely maintenance of related databases both internal to the programme and external (RAIS, Activity info).
- Provide technical support for analysis of data as well as visualization for presentation to internal and external counterparts (such as handouts, gap analysis, PowerPoint presentations) and reporting to donors as required.
- Assist in the implementation of protection post-distribution monitoring exercises through interviews with beneficiaries to measure the impact and results of activities.
- Contribute to final data cleaning and data analysis of protection post-distribution monitoring.
- Assist to maintain ongoing communication with NGO partners regarding beneficiary updates and feedback.
- Assist in the development and compilation of success stories and beneficiaries’ testimonies for visibility and communications
2. Support protection and AAP activities under the IOM protection portfolio:
- Accompany movements/escorts requiring the presence of a female staff to all programmes.
- Act as a protection hotline operator (an internal line), to maintain communication with beneficiaries/ non-beneficiaries, address queries and record feedback and complaints.
- Support protection and direct assistance activities related to other IOM thematic areas (assisted voluntary return and reintegration of stranded migrants, counter trafficking, labor migration, border management, etc.)
- Ensure the dignity and privacy of beneficiaries are respected and prioritized by protecting the confidentiality of the information received.
- Promote and apply IOM’s approach to protection, migrant-centered approach and accountability to affected populations, through positive communication and timely follow-up to encourage feedback and complaints.
- Assist the Protection Officer in liaising with external partners and service providers as needed to troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by beneficiaries.
- Focal point for IOM Jordan for internal referral of protection cases received by IOM Amman reception desk.
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Protection Officer or Head of programs
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in social work or other Social Sciences, or Law or other Humanities with two years of relevant professional experience, OR high school degree certificate with four years of relevant professional experience
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience:
- Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic is obligatory.
- Previous experience with cash-based interventions is obligatory
- Previous experience in protection in crisis working with refugees is required.
- Previous experience in supporting programs working with refugees in Jordan is required.
- Experience working on GBV, child protection is an advantage.
Skills:
- Excellent use of Excel and Microsoft applications.
- Good knowledge and use of accountability to affected populations (AAP).
- Good understanding of cash-based assistance in humanitarian context.
Languages:
- For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written).
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
