Syria: PSS Supervisor
Ghiras Al-Nahda is a Nonprofit Non-governmental humanitarian organization working to empower people through fulfilling their basic needs and seeking to improve community stability and resilience.
Job Purpose:
The PSS supervisor will be responsible for implementing the PSS component that is specifically focused on the prevention and response to enhancing protection enabling factors for the beneficiaries.
The PSS supervisor will be responsible for planning, assessing, co-design, implementing, and monitoring the PSS activities provided under the program framework as well as ensuring the quality of the services provided, coaching and mentorship of facilitators, implementation PSS-related activities (such as group consultations, individual counseling, etc.), Follow up the implementation of psychological support plans, report on activities and indicators, coordinate with relevant actors in the area. The PSS supervisor will operate under technical guidance from the CP officer and will be supervised by the field team leader
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Planning of PSS activities in CFS,
- Conducting pre- and post-evaluations of programs for all PSS beneficiaries.
- Assisting and facilitating the sessions.
- Direct supervision, coaching, and monitoring work of PSS facilitators in CFS on a daily basis.
- scheduling activities at the field level and agreed communities and ensuring following the finalized schedule of activities.
- Identify and refer cases for more specialized support or case management services.
- Monitoring data collection and entry and ensuring data is accurate and complete and collected and reported safely and in a confidential manner.
- Providing training in PFA, CSG, PSEA, and PSS concepts to the staff.
- Support with establishing formalized referral pathways and ensure timely referral of cases in need of further support.
- Regularly monitor activities and provide feedback to direct supervisor to ensure high-quality implementation of program activities.
- Provide Weekly and monthly input for the reports on progress against targets.
- Conduct regular feedback sessions with the beneficiaries.
- Ensure that protection is mainstreamed in all PSS activities and that activities are compliant with GAN operational standards and policies.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders including other NGOs, civil society groups, authorities, etc.
- Actively contribute to the development of/continuous updating of a service mapping system detailing available services and assistance in our areas of operation.
- Attend training related to the line of work.
- Under the direction of the team leader, conduct participatory monitoring activities to collect feedback and opinions of beneficiaries on the quality and impact of the activities.
- He/she may be asked to perform additional tasks in the future as needed and according to the project structure and in proportion to experience.
- Demonstrate commitment to the Code of Conduct, PSEA, humanitarian principles, minimum standards for gender-based violence, and minimum standards for child protection.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or competency required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred ideally in social work, psychology, a legal or related field with a minimum of 2 years experience in protection programs.
- Proven experience in planning and facilitating psychosocial support activities.
- Knowledge and skills in child rights, youth/community resilience, and psychosocial support.
- Experience working with at-risk children and families,
- Proven capacity to coordinate, and coach staff on PSS/Protection skills and program management.
- Good analytical, and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in coordinating with other actors and conducting service mapping and capacity assessments.
- Ability to identify the main gaps in PSS services in the given context to inform an appropriate response.
- Ability to analyze information, evaluate options, and to think and plan strategically.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen, and respect for colleagues.
- Capacity to be discrete and manage confidential information.
- Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
- Organized and able to independently manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines.
- Ability to think critically and creatively.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
